An Examination
Keywords:

This study aims to examine the mantras in the kasambu tradition, a spiritual ceremony in Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive analysis method, this research successfully identified twenty-two mantras divided into four categories based on kasambu activities: purification, honouring, protection, and appreciation. These mantras play a significant role in the ceremony, facilitating communication between humans and the spiritual world. These findings enrich our understanding of how language and rituals are utilized in spiritual ceremonies and their contributions to maintaining cultural identity and social cohesion. However, interpreting and understanding mantras has limitations without in-depth cultural context and knowledge. Further study is recommended to uncover the mantras' meanings and functions in more detail and compare them with similar traditions in other cultures.
