A Community Empowerment Model Based on Traditional Arts: A Case Study of Jumputan Batik Training for Creative-Economy in Wakatobi

This program aims to develop a creative economy empowerment model based on traditional arts through jumputan (tie-dye) batik training for micro-entrepreneurs in Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The activity is a continuation of the previous year's program, which focused on the use of canting (a traditional tool for wax-resist dyeing). However, due to equipment limitations, this second-year training shifted its focus to the more practical and easily implemented jumputan technique. In addition to the technical batik training, the program also provided sessions on marketing management and digital promotion to enhance the products' market value and competitiveness. The results show that participants not only mastered the new technique but also gained a better understanding of marketing strategies, which is expected to boost their economic independence. This empowerment model demonstrates that adapting traditional art techniques to local conditions and limitations can be an effective solution for developing a creative economy in tourism regions.
